PerfectGift.com — a few simple habits to protect your gift cards, your account, and your money.
Keeping your information safe is a top priority at PerfectGift.com. Scammers are always looking for new ways to trick people out of their money and gift cards — but a few simple habits go a long way.
Top Things to Remember
- Treat your gift card like cash - keep the number and PIN private.
- No one legitimate asks to be paid with gift cards.
- PerfectGift will never ask for your password or a one-time code.
- Don’t click links in unexpected emails or texts.
- Use a strong password and turn on MFA for Corporate accounts.
- Check your card balance and activity at perfectgift.com.
- See something wrong? Contact us right away.
Gift Card Safety
Protect your gift cards and spot gift-card scams.
- Treat your gift card like cash. Keep the card number, PIN, and security code private, and never share a photo of the front or back of your card.
- Only buy PerfectGift cards from PerfectGift.com or an authorized retailer, and check physical cards for tampering, such as scratched-off or exposed PINs.
- No legitimate business, government agency, or utility will ever ask you to pay a bill, fine, or fee with gift cards — that’s always a scam.
- Never read your card number aloud to anyone who calls, emails, or texts you unexpectedly.
- Check your card balance and recent activity at perfectgift.com. If you see “card draining,” where thieves steal card details before you use the card, contact us right away.
- Register or activate your card when possible, and keep your receipt and card number so we can help if there’s a problem.
Your Account, Passwords & MFA
Keep your login credentials strong and private.
For PerfectGift Corporate customers: if you manage a PerfectGift Corporate account, protect it with a strong password and multi-factor authentication.
- Use a strong, unique password for your Corporate account — a long mix of upper- and lower-case letters, numbers, and symbols that you don’t reuse on other websites.
- Turn on multi-factor authentication (MFA) so signing in requires a second step, like a one-time code sent to your device.
- Never share your password or a one-time code with anyone. PerfectGift will never ask you for them.
- Never write your password down where others can find it, and consider a reputable password manager to store it securely.
- Change your password promptly if you think your account may have been compromised.
To protect your account, we may ask you to verify your identity when you contact Customer Care or reset your password.
Scam Calls, Emails & Texts
Recognize phishing and pressure tactics.
- Be suspicious of any unexpected call, email, or text that creates urgency (“verify now,” “your account will be closed”) or asks for personal or payment information.
- Don’t click links or open attachments in unexpected messages. Go to perfectgift.com directly by typing the address yourself.
- PerfectGift will never call, email, or text asking for your full card number, password, or a one-time code.
- Watch for lookalike email addresses, misspellings, and poor grammar — common signs of a scam.
- Genuine PerfectGift emails come from our perfectgift.com domain. We use email-authentication controls that block fraudulent messages spoofing our domain, so treat any “perfectgift.com” email that fails verification or looks off as suspicious.
- Be cautious of text-message phishing (“smishing”) and unexpected QR codes, which can lead to fake websites.
- If a call feels off, hang up and call back using a verified number from our website or the back of your card. Remember that caller ID can be faked.
- Never buy gift cards or send money to “verify” your identity or claim a prize — that’s a scam.
Safe Habits Online & On Mobile
Shop and browse securely on any device.
- Only enter card or payment details on secure pages — look for the padlock icon and an address that begins with “https://”.
- Never send your full card number or account details by email, text, or social media — these channels aren’t secure.
- Keep your device, browser, and apps up to date, and install reputable anti-virus / anti-malware software.
- Lock your phone with a passcode or biometric, and only download apps from official app stores.
- Be careful on public or shared Wi-Fi — avoid entering payment or account details on networks you don’t control.
- Log off and close your browser after any purchase, especially on a shared device.
- These practices align with guidance from the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC) on mobile financial services.
Protecting Your Identity
Guard the personal details fraudsters need.
- Share your Social Security number only when absolutely necessary, and never use it as a username or password.
- Shred documents with personal or financial information before throwing them away.
- Keep details fraudsters use to impersonate you, such as birth date, mother’s maiden name, first pet, schools attended, off of public social media profiles.
- Review your credit reports at least once a year at annualcreditreport.com, and consider a credit freeze or monitoring for added protection.
- Act quickly if you suspect identity theft — the sooner you respond, the easier it is to limit the damage.
